Upcoming event: Northern Ireland and the EU referendum

With a UK-wide referendum on remaining in or leaving the European Union (EU) on the horizon, what are the issues for Northern Ireland? This October, the School of Politics, Philosophy and International Studies is hosting an event in collaboration with QPol to look at the key issues.

Upcoming event: Northern Ireland and the EU referendum

The event, which will take place on Tuesday 6 October at 7pm in the Great Hall at Queen’s University Belfast is free to attend and anyone can register here.

What should the UK government be seeking in its renegotiation of the terms of EU membership? What are the key issues for any debate on whether to remain in or to leave the EU? What would the implications of a Brexit be for Northern Ireland? Where do Northern Ireland’s interest lie?

The event, hosted by the BBC’s Declan Lawn, will involve a panel discussion on all these issues and more with a range of experts:

  • Dr. Cathal McCall (Queen’s University Belfast)
  • Angela McGowan (Danske Bank)
  • Dr. Lee McGowan (Queen’s University Belfast)
  • Dr. Mary Murphy (University College Cork)

Please note that the discussion will start at 7pm sharp. Guests are welcome to arrive from 6:45pm for refreshments.

Tickets are available from the events webpage by clicking here.
