Imaginative Randomocracy
14th March 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
A political system in which ordinary (randomly selected) citizens make crucial political decisions using their imagination.
This event will consist of a short film showing how a system of ‘imaginative randomocracy’ could be implemented in Northern Ireland. This will be followed by a talk from Professor John Garry outlining what imaginative randomocracy is and what its possible advantages are. Audience members will then be asked to participate in an imagination-based democratic task. This fun exercise will be followed by questions and discussion. The event concludes with a wine reception and informal discussions.
This event is organised by the School of Politics, International Studies and Philosophy at Queen’s University, in association with QPol, as part of Imagine: Festival of Ideas and Politics 2016.
